UK på vei mot ny IKT-strategi

På dagens program under BETT 2008 stod blant annet en keynote av Tony Richardson, Executive Director for e-Strategy ved Becta. En engasjert Richardson fortalte om det pågående arbeidet med en ny IKT-strategi ("e-strategy") som skal være ferdig i løpet av få måneder. Strategien skal støtte opp under de overordnede mål og planer for britisk utdanningspolitikk.

I sin presentasjon pekte Richardson på 10 trekk ved den nye strategien. Disse trekkene er ikke ferdig spikret ennå. De 10 trekkene er (gjengitt på engelsk)

1. Personalisation: technology supporting educational provision based on learner entitlement - high choice, flexible approach, real-time feedback
2. Led strategically: understanding potential of technology in education and the capacity to self-improve with flexibility and agility.
3. Deep understanding of: education, front line about technology potential to support achievement  - engagement, progress
4. Agile, capable and confident, networked education workforce: collaborates, communities of professional practice driving innovation
5. Reinvented assessment system: exploits technology for formative and summative assessment, - linked accreditation systems
6. Hubs of community and family learning: technology enabled - schools, colleges, higher education and others
7. Comprehensive high quality resource access - whereevner, whenever learning takes place - geared and matched learners' needs.
8. 100 % opportunity: universal home, institution, community (and on the move) and workplace access
9. Re-engineered processes: e-enabled and transformed core administrative and business processes driving efficiencies
10. Appropriate technology: fit for purpose connectivity, data systems and content universally available - mature partnership with industry supplying world class technologies.

Om potensielle prioriteringer sa Richardson følgende:

Learners:

• Listen to the learner, take account of and support parental and employer demand and needs.
• New capabilities for next generation learners
• Support disadvantaged learners and "hard to reach"

The education workforce:

• Leadership, vision and understanding - all levels of the system
• Professional environment and tools for profesionalised teachers/workforce: "new" pedagogy

Technology and funding:

• Managed services and universal access
• Switch over to consumer spend - no boundaries
• Hardwiring into accountability systems
